During the last weekend of January 2020, the 8th ironed sausage Fair was held in Pirot. Among the 40 exhibitors of this traditional product, our colleague Aleksandar Dzunic and his team won the best producer award for the second time.

On this occasion, Aleksandar shared his impressions with us.

What makes Pirot's best ironed sausage?

The characteristic of this sausage is that it is produced with the meat of animals that grazed on the mountain. In addition, all the spices used are natural. If we add to this also the love with which the sausages are produced, the results cannot be missing.

And the results are visible, the title of the best producer of the ironed sausage Aleksandar and his team won first in 2019, confirmed at the fair held recently.

What does this second victory mean to you?

"I am very happy to be the winner of the fair twice in a row. The award is another reason to move forward. The quality of the sausages we produce is now confirmed and will certainly lead to an increase in sales. As a result, I intend to increase production ".

Ironed sausage is one of the traditional products of the Pirot region. It is made with goat, beef and sheep meat of the highest quality, with abundant spices, like garlic and peppers, without additives or fats.

The sausages are dried in the air without further heat treatment. Every day they are stretched with a bottle, to squeeze the air out of them and prevent the deterioration of the meat, which is why they are called "ironed".
